Artist Statement

Life is just a gift,

Life is a period of time.

I try to present my life,

try to present the process of passing through my life.

Maybe it is easy to you,

just like an abstract painting.

But as far as I am concerned, it is way too complicated.

It is composed of logic, Karma, restriction, freedom, balance, ups and downs, the rational, affection, birth and death etc...

The whole life is as humble as a string.

I make efforts to weave with them,

trying to be a colorful and fascinating gift.

In weaving, there is an inherent tension between control and freedom, and a game of sensibility and rationality. I select ribbons of certain width, and this ultimately determines the whole image. The patterns can be repeated or totally at random.  At the core there is freedom and a desire to break the boundaries, yet at the same time rules of conformity exist. I search for balance and enjoy the drag and pull of the weaving process.

I love to roam the markets looking for new materials. In my art, I enjoy the effects of mixing and matching ordinary objects of daily use. In the stripping of the original function of the object one appreciates its intrinsic aesthetic. I select weaving as the simplest method of expression and apply it to the traditional canvas. I abandon drawing skill quit concept. For me this is a breakthrough in artistic form, the process is a journey of discovery rather than contained by what ‘I know’.
